First Virginia Beer and Wine Festival kicks off this weekend

Posted: Updated:
The first Virginia Beer and Wine Festival will make its debut at the Daleville Town Center in Botetourt County.

20 craft brewers will join seven local wineries for tasting's Saturday afternoon.

Merging beer and wine into one festival seems like a simple idea, that apparently has never been done in Virginia.

"We assumed that there would be one somewhere in Virginia and there isn't," said Jenn Schultz, the Development and Event Coordinator with EventZone. "We looked around, didn't find one and went ahead and set one up here. We just went for it. It sounded like a good idea and it came together really fast."

The event will also feature local bands and food trucks.

It's Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. at the Daleville Town Center.

Tickets are $25 at the door.
