Porter's Fabrication in Lynchburg expands

Posted: Updated:
LYNCHBURG, Va. - Porter's Fabrication has expanded adding 120 jobs to Lynchburg after relocating part of the company from Lexington, North Carolina.

The metal fabrication company invested $1.8 million in upgrades to the existing facility off Cohen Place and received $600,000 in economic incentives-- half from Virginia and half from Lynchburg.

90-percent of all ATMs in America have parts from Porter's.

"A lot of the big companies over the years, they have chosen to move a lot of the jobs outside of the United States and our job over the last two decades has been to bring these jobs back and you can't bring them back if you're not competitive," said Charles Saleh, the CEO of Porter's Fabrication.

"It is just really really exciting to finally get to this day because what some people don't realize is how long it takes to get to this day. There's an awful lot of negotiations and working with lots of different groups to pull all this together and I just couldn't be happier," said Marjette Upshur the Lynchburg director of economic development.

Gov. McAuliffe attended Friday's ribbon cutting.
