Jeremy Ferris and His Mom will travel to Seattle at the end of the month for a bone marrow transplant.  The trip will take at least 6 months.  Jeremy has IPEX Syndrome which is a rare condition that basically causes his body to attack his organs.

Real Life Ministries in Salem has been organizing a fundraising effort to help pay for expenses.

"Jeremy has a disease called IPEX.  It is a very rare disease.  He is the oldest one that has ever made it this far and so far they have just come up with they think it is a cure through a bone marrow transplant," explains Jeremy's Mom, Tisa Nalley.

Tisa and Jeremy will travel from Roanoke to Seattle at the end of the month for the bone marrow transplant.  They will remain in Seattle for six months.

"I just wish you know it wasn't so far...when we were over at Roanoke Memorial a lot of church people came and school people.  You can't help it as far as you gotta go... you gotta go," says Jeremy.

Jeremy has been going to UVA for monthly treatments since he was born.

He graduated from Glenvar, but still helps out with games and volunteers at the local fire department.

"He has not been up here as much recently because of his situation at home.  When we became aware of it we had several people who reached out to help.  Our staff has contributed hundreds of dollars already and we are going to do a student function that will help the family out,"  explains Glenvar High School Principal, Joe Hafey.

A Glenvar Lip Dub is also planned to raise money for the trip.

"It was new to me but we saw it on-line on Youtube.  Other schools have done something similar the kids lip sync to a music video and everybody else is going crazy.  Teams and clubs are represented.  My students have been organizing it and trying to organize sponsors to sell t-shirts," explains Teddy Moberg, Glenvar Teacher and Girls Basketball and Cross Country Coach.

From volunteering at school to helping out at the local fire department,  Jeremy has a lot of people pulling for him to receive a miracle and a cure.
