Franklin County Animal Control Officers found nine dogs abandoned without food or water in a Franklin County trailer.

A Franklin County woman named Melissa Jarels has since been indicted on 18 counts of animal cruelty.

Franklin County Animal Controls Officers say they received complaints from people worried about the animals.

Animal Control Officer Ben Lamm secured a warrant to seize the nine dogs. He says they were all severely dehydrated and malnourished. They believe the dogs had been left alone for about two weeks.

Some of the dogs had no fur left because of a severe case of mange and flea infestations.

The Franklin County Animal Hospital has treated the dogs. The dogs are now ready for adoption.

The Franklin County Humane Society is handling the adoption.

The county is also trying to raise money to pay for the nearly $3,000 vet bill. You can help donate here.
