State police investigate motorcycle crash in Henry Co.

HENRY COUNTY, VA - Virginia State Police continue to investigate a traffic crash that happened shortly after 3:00 p.m.

Police say it involved two motorcycles and a tractor trailer, and that a preliminary investigation revealed a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling north on Route 220 at Route 58 when he hit a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle that braked suddenly.

A tractor trailer was behind the motorcycles and attempted to avoid them, but hit the 2008 Harley.

The driver of the 2013 Harley motorcycle, Larry Willis, 64 of Winsor, was airlifted to Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

Stephen Turner, 28, the driver of the 2008 Harley was taken to Martinsville Memorial Hospital for injuries he suffered in the crash.

Police say Turner was also charged in the crash with fail to maintain proper control.

State police continue to investigate the crash.
