BREAKING: Report of armed man on building roof in Roanoke

Police confirmed that the suspect who fired shots from the roof of the starlite motel was arrested. Police say they found two guns at the scene.

Roanoke police tell WSLS 10 officers received a report about a man with a gun on top of a building in the 4400 block of Melrose Avenue.

Our reporter at the scene tells us parts of Melrose Avenue are shut down including the intersections of Melrose and Westside and Melrose and Peters Creek Road.

Police are asking people to stay out of the area.

A tactical team is on the way as well as several emergency responders.
