Court records show Habana Cafe owes the Market Building Foundation more than $20,000 for being behind on rent.

The civil case is filed as an unlawful detainer meaning the landlord needed to evict the cafe for not paying.

Documents show this has been a problem twice one in February of last year and then filed again in April of this year.

The Cuban cafe is on the corner of Campbell Avenue and Market Street.

"It's always really sad to see a tenant leave, but we hope to fill the space really quickly with another exciting and vibrant tenant, "City Market Building Michelle Dykstra.

The Director of City Market Building Michelle Dykstra says the building had a 91% occupancy rate before the cafe left. Now they have the restaurant and a small office space to fill.

They are currently accepting applications.
