Posted: Updated:
On Thursday, Bedford County leaders got a closer look at ways the school system may be able to cost future costs. The results of a state-required efficiency study were released this week. The findings included 101 recommendations and 42 commendations. the goal of the efficiency study is to identify opportunities to reduce costs in non-instructional areas to allow school division's to channel any such savings into instruction.

Researchers said the bottom-line of the study is that more resources are needed for Bedford County Schools. In fact, researchers suggested that the school system spend millions of dollars to add positions in transportation, technology, food services and other areas. On the flip side, the study showed that the best way to save millions of dollars would be to close Bedford Primary and Moneta Elementary Schools.
