COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Former USC cornerback Victor Hampton has a tryout scheduled for Tuesday with the New York Giants.

Hampton is hoping to sign on as a free agent with an NFL team after not being selected in last month's draft.

Hampton gave up his last year of eligibility with the gamecocks to turn pro.

He was projected to go anywhere from the second to fifth round but his name was never called.

Some off the field issues could have hurt Hampton he was questioned about an April assault at a New York City nightclub.

Police determined Hampton didn't do anything wrong.

Also in April, he was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct following an argument with his sister. The charges were dismissed and Hampton's attorney says his record is clear.
