Hundreds of veterans from around the country will visit Southwest Virginia this weekend for the 70th Anniversary of D-Day.
Some of those veterans will arrive in Bedford today and take a tour of the memorial before the remembrance events begin tomorrow.
One group will be arriving by plane shortly after 11am and a local group has planned a surprise for their arrival.
A group of moms and their children have been working this week to prepare for the surprise.
They have made signs and greeting cards which they plan to hand to the veterans at the airport.
There will be more than 60 WWII veterans on this morning's flight.
