Lynchburg man pledges 100 holes of golf for good cause

Posted: Updated:
A local man will golf 100 holes in honor of his grandfather through the Hundred Hole Hike program.

The Hundred Hole Hike challenges participants to walk and play 100 holes of golf in one day. Todd Ramsey's goal is to walk roughly 24 miles and play golf in memory of his grandfather.

Ramsey is a middle school science teacher and tennis coach living in Lynchburg, Virginia. On his 100 Hole Hike golfer blog, Ramsey says his late grandfather was unable to play golf in his retirement because of his multiple sclerosis.

The money donated or pledged to Ramsey will be donated to the National MS Society.

The Hundred Hole Hike works by having golfers commit to a hike and pick a charity to raise money for. Next, the participants spread the word in order to collect pledges on either a lump-sum or per-hole basis. On the day of the event, the golfers will walk as many holes as possible, competing for bragging rights and the TRUE Linkswear Cup, a trophy given each year to the club with the most aggregate holes walked by its participants.

The event will be held on June 19th at the Winton Country Club.
