Veterans honor D-day during Bernard Marie's 30th Annual D-Day & WWII dinner

Posted: Updated:
On Friday, hundreds of people gathered at the Sheraton Hotel for Bernard Marie's 30th Annual D-Day & WWII dinner. Service members past and present shared stories and paid tribute to those who also fought for our country.
"70 years ago our world was saved" said Marie. "If they had not been successful with D-Day, it would have been catastrophic for everyone"
It was on June 6, 1944 that soldiers, sailors, and airmen stormed the beaches of Normandy, France.
"It was a major turning point in the way the world operated. They landed there and changed the world" said William Atherholt, Navy veteran.
Of those who survived D-day, many have passed away over the years and the few that at left are fading away. On the 70th anniversary, photos, uniforms, s and badges of honor serve as reminders of the heroes we will never forget.
