String and Pig Pickin' concert to help Floyd County Schools

Posted: Updated:
Happening this weekend, music fans are expected flock to the New River Valley to support Floyd County Schools.

The third annual String and Pig Pickin' concert is Saturday at Chantilly Farm.

The event will feature several bands, including Sierra Hull and Seldom Scene.

All the money raised goes to Floyd County Schools, which organizers say is in need.

"It's about the kids and seeing where the money goes and seeing they're getting the best that they can in Floyd," said Anthony Simpkins, a member of the Ridgeview Riders ATV Club which sponsors the event. "With the budget cut $1 million, if the community don't step in and try to help out, we need them to."

The concert is Saturday from 2:00-10:00 p.m.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $20 at the door.

You can go Chantilly Farm's website to buy tickets.

Here's a list of Saturday's acts and what time they will be performing:

2:00 - Deer Run Drifters

3:00 - Ashlee Blankenship

4:00 - Gravel Road

5:00 - The Blackberries

6:00 - Sierra Hull

8:00 - Seldom Scene
