ROANOKE - Some furry friends are looking for a home in the Star City.
"Angels of Assisi" had their second adoption event called "Dog days of summer."
They partnered with "Ripple," which is a downtown retail store in Roanoke.
It's part of their goal to get the most adoptions in one month and they say they beat last year's record with just over 200.
"Angels is so very happy that we are part of a community of people that are opening their hearts and homes and adopting shelter animals and giving them loving homes," Jill Nelson Adoption Specialist with Angels of Assisi said.
Workers say this weekend the adoption fee is waived for all animals except puppies.
Angels of Assis say their next goal is the "100 K Challenge" where they try to get 1500 adoptions in three months.
