CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Charles Town officials plan to renovate an 18th-century building constructed by George Washington's brother.
Charles Washington built Charles Washington Hall in 1786.
City manager David Mills tells The Journal (http://bit.ly/1kRGvS3 ) that the city is seeking a $3 million federal loan to fund the project.
Mayor Peggy Smith says the project will begin within six months, once the U.S. Department of Agriculture approves the loan.
The work includes stabilizing the building and additional features for the public, including a visitor center and informational kiosks.
The renovation is part of an effort to revitalize downtown Charles Town.
