Floydfest attracts people from all walks of life

Posted: Updated:

Floyd (WSLS) FloydFest 13 kicked off on Wednesday.

Thousands of people from different walks of life will attend various events. Some come to the music festival to escape the monotony of everyday living.

"Festivals are like a world inside another world" said Abby Cohen, festival goer. "So you can be who you want to be for five days."

Abby Cohen and her friends traveled to Floyd, Virginia from Charleston, South Carolina. Like many others, they packed their tents and came ready for a fun-filled and, traditionally, wet gathering of music lovers.

"Last year, we were not prepared and it was really muddy and I left on Saturday" she said. "But this year, I feel like people knew it was going to be bad so they prepared."

A lot of preparation and manpower goes into coordinating the annual event.

This year, fans were welcomed with new camping and parking options to help make the experience more enjoyable. Event organizers said the changes are part of this year's theme, revolutionary.

" It is encouraging people to revolutionize and love more and be in the moment and enjoy every element of this festival" said Coral Darby, Darby Communications.

With every note played from the stage, fans look forward to leaving their worries behind and having a carefree time at FloydFest 13.
