RALEIGH, N.C. -

Two armed and masked men robbed a Lowes Food store in Raleigh early Saturday morning, Raleigh Police said.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. Saturday, two armed and masked suspects entered the Lowes Foods store at 8440 Louisburg Road. The store was closed at the time, but two employees were working.

The two intruders learned the employees could not access cash that was in a safe, so the robbers waited until the day-shift workers arrived.

When three additional employees arrived about 6 a.m., the two men completed the robbery and then fled. No employees were injured.

Both suspects were said to be black males. One was described as having a dark complexion, standing 5 feet 6-7 inches tall, weighing 160-170 pounds and having a thin but muscular frame. He wore a ball cap, police said. Detailed information is not currently available concerning the second suspect, who was also said to have a thin, muscular frame.

Anyone with information that might assist the investigation of the case should call Raleigh CrimeStoppers at (919) 834-HELP or visit www.raleighcrimestoppers.org for text and email reporting options.
