Roanoke City repairs more than 2,000 potholes this year

Posted: Updated:
Roanoke (WSLS) - The City of Roanoke is busy this summer working to repair the high number of potholes that have resulted from the harsh conditions of the past winter.

Crews have already repaired more than double what they had at this point last year. More than 2,300 holes have been filled so far.

Mark Jamison, Roanoke's Transportation Division Manager, is happy with progress that's been made this summer.

Staff has been rearranged to deal with the increased needs. As a result, citizen requests are being completed quickly.

327 requests to repair potholes have been made this year. In the last few months, crews have been able to complete all citizen requests within a week.

Jamison says the additional work that's been done to fix potholes this year should not take away from other projects. Only $35,000 of $60,000 that's been budgeted for asphalt has been spent so far.

If you would like to request that a pothole be fixed, contact the Department of Transportation at 540-853-2676.
