DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - Local businesses in Danville are gearing up for Small Business Saturday.
Sarah Rodden, owner of Lizzy Lou Boutique, says business last year was about the same on Black Friday as it was on Small Business Saturday but hopes now that she's been open for over a year it will be busier this time.
She says Small Business Saturday helps carry the store throughout the holiday season.
"We try to have as much merchandise out as possible and really get our customers excited with announcing sales," Rodden explained. "I would say during the holiday season last year Black Friday and Small Business Saturday were two of our strongest days. So, it really helps carry us."
American Express started Small Business Saturday in 2010 and says 95 million people shopped at small businesses on Small Business Saturday last year.
