ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - A Patrick County native returned to southwest Virginia before headlining a Harvester Center show.
Sammy Shelor travels the world with the Lonesome River Band. The band formed in Franklin County back in 1982 and has grown to be one of the most respected names in bluegrass music.
Shelor says he tries to make a difference for his hometown Patrick County.
"I try to help you know within the county when I can playing different benefits and so forth, but also talk about it and promote the crooked road, promote the music, promote as many things as I can about Southwest Virginia while I'm out in other parts of the country," Shelor explained.
Shelor and the Lonesome River Band will play the Harvester Music Center in Rocky Mount on Saturday, October 3rd.
Tickets are 20-dollars if you would like to go log on to http://lonesomeriverband.com for more info.
