United States Attorney Fishwick holding news conference on guilty plea of David Martin

ROANOKE, Va. (WSLS 10) - On Thursday,  United States Attorney John P. Fishwick Jr. and representatives from the ATF will hold a news conference on Thursday to announce the guilty plea of David Christopher Martin to charges related to the burglary of a federal licensed firearms dealer.

Martin is scheduled to plead guilty on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in U.S. District Court in Roanoke. The news conference is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

According to a previous indictment, on or about April 4, Martin broke into Mountain Top Hunting and Fishing, a federally-licensed firearms dealer located in Covington. After allegedly breaking into the business, Martin stole 24 firearms. He is a previously convicted felon, prohibited from possessing a firearm, and is accused of transporting the firearms in interstate commerce to South Carolina.

Authorities said the investigation of the case was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives offices in Roanoke, Charleston, S.C. and Jacksonville, Florida, the Covington Police Department, the Alleghany County Sheriff's Office, the Bloomingdale, Georgia Police Department, Colleton County Sheriff's Office in South Carolina and the Nassau County Florida Sheriff's Office. United States Attorney John P. Fishwick Jr. and First Assistant United States Attorney Anthony P. Giorno will prosecute the case for the United States.
