Petition started to honor Carroll County deputy at alma mater
Curtis Bartlett was killed in the line of duty
GALAX, Va. – The Galax community is coming together to honor a Carroll County deputy who was killed in the line of duty earlier this year.
Community members started a petition to name Galax High School's new football field in honor of alumni Curtis Bartlett. As of Saturday, the petition had already gained more than 700 signatures.
According to the school district, the field is currently being renovated. Family members say Bartlett was a fitness guru, army veteran and loved working in law enforcement including his time as a school resource officer.
