Fall's first Shred-A-Thon successful in Rocky Mount

ROCKY MOUNT (WSLS 10) - Monday marked WSLS 10's first Shred-A-Thon event of the fall season.

People began lining up a half-hour before Monday's event began at 6 a.m. at the Schewels in Rocky Mount.

In its fifth "Shred-A-Thon" event, WSLS 10 is again partnering with Kodiak Shredding and Schewels. So far, more than 1.5 million pounds of paper have been shredded and recycled.

The demand at Monday's event was more than expected as Kodiak had to bring a third truck to the site.

Sixty-thousand pounds of paper were collected to be shredded.

This season's remaining Shred-A-Thons will be:

October 31 – Lynchburg – Schewels, 7007 Timberlake Road

November 7 – Christiansburg – Schewels, 1055 Peppers Ferry Road

November 14 – Danville – Schewels, 126 Sandy Court

November 21 – Roanoke – Schewels, 3602 Ferncliff Avenue

These event are free and there is no limit on how much anyone can bring. All residents and businesses are welcome to visit each WSLS 10 Shred-A-Thon site from 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.
