Longwood University, Patrick Henry CC sign agreement for guaranteed transfer

MARTINSVILLE (WSLS 10) - Students who take classes at Patrick Henry Community College now have a guaranteed credits will transfer to Longwood University.

Patrick Henry Community College President Dr. Angeline Godwin and Longwood University President W. Taylor Reveley IV signed an articulation agreement Friday, ensuring guaranteed transfer in three different programs of study: the teacher education preparation with a middle school licensure and the bachelors of social work program. The two presidents also signed an updated agreement for the teacher education preparation with an elementary school licensure program.

The articulation agreements ensure that PHCC students have guaranteed admission to Longwood University and the courses they took at PHCC will transfer seamlessly.

The schools said PHCC students should see their advisers for details about the criteria required to be eligible for the transfer programs.

PHCC noted Friday New College Institute also offers PHCC grads opportunities in the same programs. Students transferring to Longwood could choose to stay in the Martinsville area and take the Longwood courses that are offered at NCI. The partnership between PHCC, NCI and Longwood University is designed to enable students to get bachelor's degrees without leaving home.
