ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Local education is a topic many of you have a stake in as parents and teachers.

You have a chance to hear from the candidates during a forum on education hosted by the Roanoke County Council of PTAs.   The group's secretary says more funding, less testing and teacher retention, are the kinds of issues on parents minds.

Roanoke County School Board Candidates and Virginia State Senate Candidates will be there to discuss their views. The idea is to get their thoughts on the challenges and issues we are facing and how will they address those while in office.

"Funding is always a high priority. Without the funding we can't support all the wonderful things are schools are doing. At the Board of Supervisors level, at the state level, at the school board level we need to know that we're going to get proper funding," said Laura Bowman, the Roanoke County Council of PTAs Secretary.

WSLS 10's Jenna Zibton will be moderating the forum Monday, October 12 at 7 p.m. at Cave Spring Middle School.  It's open to the public.
