25 people interested in Pulaski School Superintendent position
PULASKI COUNTY (WSLS 10) - The Pulaski County School Board says 25 people expressed interest in the Superintendent position and the School Board has received 16 applications.
The completed applications include four current or former superintendents, four current assistant superintendents, three current central office administrators and four principals or building level administrators. One applicant is currently a corporate executive. The applicants include eleven men and five women. Nine applicants currently work in Virginia and seven are employed out of state. Seven different states are represented by the out of state applicants.
"We as a Board believe that one of our most important responsibilities is the selection and employment of a Superintendent to lead our school division. We look forward to successfully fulfilling this responsibility," said Michael Barbour, Chairman of the Pulaski County School Board.
Pulaski County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Thomas Brewster announced his resignation in April to become the Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction at Bluefield College and Director of External Affairs for Communities in Schools of Virginia.
