Virginia Tech graduation includes 4,767 bachelor's degrees

Mechanical engineering is most popular degree again this year

BLACKSBURG – It's a big graduation weekend With thousands of students getting their diplomas. Virginia Western, New River and Dabney Lancaster Community Colleges all have ceremonies Friday.

Virginia Tech's big ceremony is Friday At 8:30 a.m. in Lane Stadium.   In the event weather is an issue, the ceremony maybe delayed or canceled if it's too bad.

Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg is the speaker.

4,767 Virginia Tech students will get bachelor's degrees.  As it was last year, this year's most popular major among graduating seniors is mechanical engineering.

The next four most popular majors are business information technology; human nutrition, foods and exercise; biological sciences; and finance.

About 1,275 students will be honored at the Graduate School Ceremony.
