Roanoke students will get school supplies packed by volunteers

Wells Fargo employees spend time putting together backpacks

ROANOKE – Local students will start the year off with new school supplies.

Wells Fargo employees packed more than 1,500 backpacks of school supplies, collected during Load the Bus. This is the company's fourth year of helping out.

"It's kind of a personal story for me. I grew up being one of the kids that probably needed these types of supplies so it's nice as I've grown and I am able to get back to the community and get back to where it's needed and how I felt when I was growing up," said Tina Seville, Wells Fargo.

"I think it's important that they have the tools they need to be successful. This is something that small that everybody can help contribute but it makes a big difference," said Erica Chamberlain, Wells Fargo.

The bags are given out at the Back to the School Extravaganza. The event is only open to children enrolled in Roanoke City schools. It's this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at William Fleming.
