Now your kids can call My Little Pony for a special holiday treat

Hotline will be open until Dec. 31

We're not sure if you're going to love us or hate us for the following information, but here goes: Now through the end of the month, your children can hear from their favorite My Little Pony on the phone.

Well, to be fair, it's a recording, so the ponies can't carry on a conversation. But it's still a pretty cute idea.

"Give your kids a magical surprise!" reads an Instagram post from My Little Pony.

It's true: The hotline exists. We even called ourselves to make sure of that. If you dial (toll free) 833-249-0483, you can choose between six ponies to give your son or daughter a holiday message.

For the record, we listened to Rarity's holiday message. It was a little strange, to be honest, but let's be real: It's really not for the parents, now, is it? If you're an 8-year-old, however, you're probably over the moon to think that one of these crazy ponies is talking to you on mom's cell.

Anyway, here's the scoop: If the child in your life would be into this sort of thing, you call the number listed above, and Princess Celestia, Ruler of Equestria, answers (obviously). At the end of her little spiel, your child can choose which pony he or she would like to hear from. You'll dial 1 for Twilight Sparkle, 2 for Rarity, 3 for Applejack, 4 for Fluttershy, 5 for Rainbow Dash or 6 for Pinkie Pie.

And there you have it.

This seems to fall in line with the whole "let's call Santa" trend of the holiday season. For the record, Santa's too busy to come to the phone, but you can reach him at 951-262-3062. It was this website that launched Santa’s Hotline about 10 years ago, as a way to market itself.

Happy holidays and happy dialing!
