ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The folks at Fleet Feet are making a difference, partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters to make sure kids have the shoes they need to lead a healthy life.

This weekend, for every "big" and "little" who show up on the Freenway Saturday to take part in a walking group, the little will get a brand new pair of fitted shoes.

The local running store has raised money in the past for Big Brothers Big Sisters, but this is the first time store owners have given away new shoes. The owners said giving back is one of the most important things they do.

Fleet Feet co-owner Blaine Lewis explained, "I think one of the important things for us as a locally owned business is to give back to the community in which we live and this is a great group and organization for us to be able to do that."

Big Brothers Big Sisters Marketing Coordinator, Jessica Scaggs, said, "this is such a generous activity for Fleet Feet to be doing for us. Again, not only putting on an event, but to give so freely to the kids in our program."

New Balance has chosen the Roanoke store to help with community involvement, so the "littles" will receive a pair of New Balance shoes.
