18-year-old dies in Floyd County crash

State police believe alcohol was a factor

FLOYD COUNTY Va. – One man is dead and another is in the hospital after a single-car crash in Floyd County Friday night, Virginia State Police say.

State police say the crash happened on Route 730 near Route 749. The car was traveling south when it ran off the side of the road and hit several trees.

The driver, Zachary Jonah Todd Quesenberry of Willis 21, was not wearing a seat belt. He was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries. The passenger of the car, Morgan Phillips, 18,  of Indian Valley was also not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.

State police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash and charges are pending.

The crash is still under investigation.
