Better Business Bureau urges caution when looking for seasonal jobs
ROANOKE (WSLS 10) – Many people in the Roanoke Valley are expected to look for temporary jobs this holiday season.
The Better Business Bureau Serving Western Virginia is warning those job seekers to be cautious in their search.
President Julie Wheeler says scammers often take advantage of the increase in people that look for seasonal employment this time of year.
She says in order to avoid becoming a victim, apply for jobs in person.
Often times retailers, restaurants and delivery companies have legitimate openings.
She suggests avoiding sites like Craigslist when looking for a job, as well as advertisements that claim you can make easy money working from home.
Common targets of seasonal employment scams are seniors, students and stay at home moms.
