DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - The Danville Police Department has arrested a man in connection to the death of a 20-month-old girl. 

Officers took Michael James Gill Jr. into custody and charged him with felony abuse and neglect in the death of Aleigha Grace Sadler.

As we've reported, police said after 9 p.m. Thursday, November 20 rescue personnel responded to a home along the 100 block of West Woodlawn Drive for the report of an unresponsive child. 

They said Aleigha Sadler was taken to Danville Regional Medical Center and subsequently flown to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment. Medical staff pronounced Sadler dead Monday afternoon. 

The body was transported to the Medical Examiner's Office in Roanoke for an autopsy. The cause of the death has been listed as homicide by blunt force trauma.

Gill is currently being held at the Danville Adult Detention Center on a $50,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing.
