Round Town for November 27, 2014
(WSLS 10) - Christmas arrives in Buchanan with the town's annual Merchant's Christmas Open House. Shop local stores while also taking in the decorations around town. Hours for the open house are 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. While there, watch the tree light up at 7 p.m. Saturday.
The switch will be flipped on the Christmas Tree in Rocky Mount. See the sights and hear a performance from the Benjamin Franklin Middle School Band. The lights will shine bright starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
Start the holiday season in Lexington with the annual Candlelight Processional followed by the tree lighting. Join hundreds of your neighbors on Main Street as Santa and Mrs. Claus lead the way singing Christmas carols. The city tree will then be lit. The holiday cheer begins at 5:30 p.m.
The Roanoke Valley Mineral and Gem Society holds its 35th Annual Gem and Mineral Show at the Salem Civic Center. Hours for the events are Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. And Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
Lace up your skates and head to the Berglund Center as ice skating returns this weekend. On Friday, a portion of the proceeds from admission goes to the Roanoke Valley SPCA. Admission is $5 with skate rental costing $2.
The Greenbrier will light its Christmas Trees this week. Take the kids along for a meet and greet with Elsa and Olaf from Disney's Frozen. They will be there to take pictures with the little ones from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
