If you shop at five small businesses and get your shopping passport stamped by each, you will be entered to win prizes. Residents must turn in their passport by December 4 to be entered.

Virginia Tech football will sound a little bit different after Friday night's game. After 40 years as "the voice" of the Marching Virginians halftime show Tony Distler will put down the microphone after Tech takes on UVa. Distler retired from teaching at Virginia Tech in 2004 but stayed on to lend his baritone voice for both the pregame and halftime bands at home football games. He is looking forward to doing some traveling about signing off.
