ROANOKE (WSLS) - The weather cooperated Thanksgiving morning for the ninth annual Drumstick Dash in downtown Roanoke.
Organizers of the Drumstick Dash estimate Thursday's 5K brought in about $250,000 for the Roanoke Rescue Mission. All the money raised will be used for the rescue mission's entire food budget for next year.
More than 13,000 people came to downtown Roanoke to participate. The Drumstick Dash has certainly grown since it started back in 2006, when only about 1,700 runners participated.
WSLS 10'S John Carlin and Karen McNew were on hand to emcee the race and hand out awards.
