ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The city of Roanoke aims to make getting information from all its departments through social media easier with its new social media center.

The city says by clicking on the "Social Media Center" icon at the top of the roanokeva.gov homepage, you have the option of viewing combined Facebook posts from city departments on one page, or selecting streams from individual departments through the "City Facebook Streams" drop-down menu. You can also view Twitter streams, city videos, news releases, and sign up for MyRoanoke e-mail alerts and the city's electronic newsletter, City News at a Glance.

The social media center also has responsive design. That means that it will automatically adjust its layout to whatever device you're using to view it. The Social Media Center is also equipped with a search feature that lets users look at specific content.

You can also access the center by visiting roanoke.uberflip.com. According to online provider Uberflip, Roanoke is the first government agency in Virginia to feature its product.
