MARTINSVILLE (WSLS 10) - Martinsville Police are investigating a shooting over the weekend that sent one man to the hospital. 

Officers say they responded to the 100 block of Park Street in Martinsville around 2:30 a.m. Sunday in reference to a report of gunshots.

Police found a male victim, identified as Malik Moorehead, 19, with a gunshot wound outside a home.


Moorehead was taken to the Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County.

Officers arrested Calvin Edward Cabines, 38, who was living inside the home. Cabines is charged with Aggravated Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon, Reckless Handling of a Firearm, and Discharging a Firearm in the city.
