University police search for suspect in assault on Radford campus

RADFORD (WSLS 10) - A Radford University student said an assailant punched her in the face and held her down by her throat before she escaped Sunday morning. 

In an email sent to students, the Radford University Police Department said it is investigating a physical assault  on campus near Russell Hall at approximately 4 a.m. Sunday.

A female victim told police she was confronted on campus by an unknown male near Russell Hall. 

The victim reported that the male punched her in the face, forcing her to the ground where he held her down by her throat until she was able to escape at which point both fled the scene. 

The suspect was described as a white male, 5'10" to 5'11", slim build, brown hair, clean shaven, wearing a black North Face jacket and blue jeans.

RUPD is asking the RU community to report suspicious behavior or information about this crime to the Radford University Police Department at 540-831-5500.
