Danville substation goes down; over 2,000 customers without power
DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - Danville Utilities crews are working as quickly as possible to restore power service to the downtown area and parts of North Main Street and Halifax Road served by the Bridge Street substation.
The substation went out of service at 8:49 a.m. Wednesday. The cause appears to be with the substation transformer. A total of 2,801 customers are without power.
To restore service, Utilities substation operators will switch the load to other substations. Some of the customers served by the Bridge Street substation will be temporarily served by the Brantly substation. Others will be served by the Riverside substation.
Crews do not have a time estimate on how long it will take to make the switches.
