SALEM (WSLS 10) - A pedestrian was hit near the Goodwill at Route 460 in Salem Wednesday afternoon. 

Salem police say it happened around 12:45 p.m. Officers responded to the 1400 block of East Main Street in reference to a pedestrian, who reportedly had been struck by a motorist.

Police found that a 62-year-old male was attempting to cross the street from the Goodwill parking lot to Lakeside Plaza when he was hit by a female driver in a 2005 Chevrolet Impala. 

The pedestrian was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life threatening.

Salem Police said the man was not using the crosswalk when he was hit. No charges have been placed against the driver of the vehicle at this time, but the incident remains under investigation.
