The Siegel center was the site for a big boys state title match up. And it would be a big day for the southside. Dan river and Martinsville were playing for the boys 2A state title.
The two big athletes in this game, were Tremaine Edmunds of Dan River and  Devonte Holland from Martinsville. Both of these guys had big days on the boards.
Tremaine had 19 rebounds in helping keep Dan River in the game despite a slow start.
But where the game might have been won--was on the play of Bulldogs star post Devonte Holland. He turned in a 26 point, 15 rebound effort that included 12 clutch free throws. That may have been where the game turned. Your final score in this one was 54-43.  Martinsville is the boys 2a state champion.

"Coming into the game I knew it was going to be a hard fought game, and I knew I was going to get fouled. In practice yesterday I worked on free throws. You have to make big free throws to win games, free throws win or lose games, " explains Bulldogs star post Devonte Holland.

"We lost to them last Friday, I thought that was a good thing for our kids to lose cause its hard to beat a team two times in five days.  That's what I told my team, " says Martinsville coach Jeff Adkins.

"We were just talking in the locker room about these--last couple of games we've had these slow starts. I just don't know where they have been coming from. I can't wrap my hands around it. I just don't know where these slow starts came from. We dug ourselves a hole again and we just couldn't find a way to get ourselves out of it," says Dan River Coach Kenny Murphy.
