RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia Commonwealth University is giving alumni, students and employees a chance to leave a permanent imprint on the school's new library.

Members of the VCU community are invited to sign their names on a beam that will be used to complete the vertical structural framework of the building next Wednesday. It's part of a "topping off" ceremony to mark the construction milestone. The signed beam will be lifted into place at 2 p.m. University officials will give brief remarks, and the Broad Street Brass Quintet will perform.
