RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Local governments and dam owners can apply for $500,000 in grants from a fund managed by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.
The funding is available from the Virginia Dam Safety, Flood Prevention and Protection Assistance Fund. Each grant requires a 50 percent match.
The grants can be used for emergency action plans, for local flood warning and response systems, engineering costs related to dam repairs and incremental damage analysis, among other purposes.
Requests must be submitted by May 1.
