The Roanoke County Police Department's Crime Analyst used information from the past offenses and information provided by investigators to determine that the suspect typically struck early in the morning and then late in the evening.

Using this information, evening shift supervisors coordinated efforts to provide extra coverage in the areas of the fitness centers.

In the evening of March 12, Mark Anthony Martin, 51, of Washington, D.C., was stopped in a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle found in surveillance video from previous incidents. Martin was stopped in the area of Gold's Gym on Electric Rd.

Further investigation determined that Martin was a fugitive from South Carolina. He was arrested for being a fugitive from justice. He has been connected to the vehicle break-ins and charges were pending.
