AMS Certified Meteorologist Jonathan Kegges joined WSLS Storm Team 10 in March of 2015.

Jonathan began his career in Rochester, Minnesota as the weekend meteorologist at KTTC-TV. While he enjoys being in a warmer climate now, he'll miss the wind chills routinely dipping below -30 and the snow being above the mailboxes for basically the entire winter. Weather that cold though allows you to make great friends, indoors that is. Folks in the Upper Midwest really know how to embrace the long, harsh winters which makes it sort of bearable. One of Jonathan's fondest memories in Minnesota was covering an unprecedented May snow storm that brought 14.5" of snow to the area on May 2nd, 2013.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Jonathan attended and earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Meteorology from Penn State in 2010. In 2014 Jonathan earned the designation of Certified Broadcast Meteorologist from the American Meteorological Society. The AMS CBM designation is the highest rating awarded by the American Meteorological Society.

Jonathan's interest in meteorology began at a very young age. Thunderstorms scared him when he was little and he always wanted to know what was going on (besides that the angles were bowling) when he frantically ran into his parents' room. The Blizzard of 1993 also helped to spark his interest in the weather. At five years old he remembers his dad opening the garage door to almost two feet of snow.

Jonathan is happy to say that the weather is not only his job, but his hobby as well, but when he is not forecasting he's checking up on his favorite sports teams. Jonathan is a huge Pirates, Steelers, Penguins, and of course Nittany Lions fan. He enjoys keeping in touch with his two younger brothers Ryan and Matt and all of his family back home in Pittsburgh.
