BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) - The Blacksburg Children's Museum is planning a big renovation and local students are helping design the new look.

Five groups of interior design students at Virginia Tech have created new concepts which will be unveiled at the museum at 1:00 p.m. Friday.

WSLS 10 got a sneak peak at some of the designs ahead of the event. Each incorporates more exhibits and age-specific zones.

Executive Director of the Blacksburg Children's Museum, Julene Rice, said the big renovation was needed as there was a lot of wasted space inside the museum.

The hope is that kids will have a more quality experience once the renovation is complete.

Early estimates suggest the overhaul will cost more than $100,000.

Rice says she's hopeful the museum will be able to raise that money by the end of the year.
