POUND, Va. (AP) - Police say a newborn boy is doing well following his birth in a parking lot in Pound.

Police tell media outlets that Pound police Officer Perry Ratliff helped the baby's parents deliver him on Sunday, with coaching from a Wise County dispatcher over a telephone.

The baby's mother, April Fleming Harrison of Clintwood, tells the Bristol Herald Courier (

Harrison and her son, Mason Gauge Fleming, were taken to a hospital in Norton.
