Race for the Cure donations continue through May
ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The actual race may be over with, but donations continue to pour in for Susan G. Komen's Race for the Cure.
Runners have raised more than $296,000. That's 92 percent of the $320,000 goal, according to Catherine Turner the Executive Director of Susan G. Komen Virginia Blue Ridge.
Collections continue through May.
Organizers say 75 percent of the money raised stays in Southwest Virginia for screenings, education and treatment.
Twenty-five percent will go to national research.
In all 2,100 runners registered for Saturday's race.
