Our 10 Cares Super Food Drive collected around 26,000 pounds of food – well above the goal of 20,000 pounds.

All the food collected at Walmarts in Danville, Lynchburg, Roanoke and Christiansburg will stay local, going to pantries in those communities.

"It's a great feeling to know that our community cares, to know that we can secure partnerships with such great people that are willing to take a day out of their time," said Pamela Irvine, the CEO of Feeding America Southwest Virginia, a partner with WSLS 10 and Walmart in the food drive.

In all, Feeding America Southwest Virginia serves 127,000 people per month.

Irvine hopes to make the 10 Cares Super Food Drive an annual tradition.
